A Heartwarming Christmas Tale: Brianna and Jordan Driskell’s Journey to Parenthood with Their Quintuplets

Brianna and Jordan, both 26, faced a challenging journey to parenthood. For nearly two years, they struggled with infertility, describing it as an emotional rollercoaster. Each month brought anticipation, hoping it would be the moment they’d been longing for, only to be disappointed by negative pregnancy tests. But after their sixth fertility treatment, their prayers were answered with two pink lines—a long-awaited positive outcome. Brianna exclaimed, “We got a baby for each time we tried!” Their joy reached new heights when an eight-week ultrasound revealed not one, but five sacs on the screen. Brianna was left in awe, and her husband, Jordan, was nearly overcome with emotion. Both moms were equally stunned, and the news was so overwhelming that Brianna’s mother even vomited twice outdoors. The sheer magnitude of this blessing became evident.

Despite doctors advising selective reduction because all five infants were considered unlikely to survive the pregnancy, Brianna and Jordan firmly declined. “We believe God brought these children to us,” Brianna said. “So, leaving any of them behind is pointless. We trust God’s choice.” Throughout the pregnancy, Brianna faced challenges due to ovarian problems and severe morning sickness. “I lost 10 pounds and was hospitalized for extreme dehydration,” she shared. “It was tough.” At 22 weeks, her cervix began to shrink, which raised concerns about premature labor. Brianna was hospitalized and put on bedrest. She persevered through these obstacles to keep the kids within her until 30 weeks.

Brianna’s quintuplets, named Zoe Hart, Dakota Faith, Hollyn Grace, Asher Blaze, and Gavin Lane, were born at 28 weeks due to preeclampsia, a dangerous high blood pressure condition. The University of Kentucky’s Chandler Hospital delivered them through a cesarean section. Zoe, the smallest, weighed 1 pound, 13 ounces, while Hollyn, the largest, was 2 pounds, 6 ounces. Zoe, in particular, showed remarkable feistiness. Almost two months after birth, all five kids are now home with their family.

Life with five kids is undoubtedly challenging, but Brianna cherishes every moment. Jordan, her husband, returned to his agricultural job after just one week. Fortunately, her mother and a nanny provide essential assistance. “It’s insane,” Brianna exclaimed. “Our home is never dull. We feed every 30 minutes, and it feels like a factory, using numerous bottles daily.” Due to their fragile immune systems, they rarely take the kids out, and when they do, it’s usually in small groups. The family had to acquire a van because their previous vehicle couldn’t accommodate them, and even with the van, it’s a tight fit. Their outings attract a lot of attention, which they find fun, and they’re delighted to see their children developing distinct personalities. Adhering to a strict schedule is crucial, and they continuously adapt as the kids grow. A larger home is in their future plans.

This Christmas, the couple’s five children will make it an unforgettable one. “Over the years, I’ve received Christmas cards from friends and family who had kids,” Brianna shared. “Now, I’m a parent, and I’m excited to send Christmas cards with my kids on them. We’re content and grateful to God.”
