Incredible Moment: Daredevil Pilot Takes Russia’s New 1,300mph Stealth Fighter for a Spin Without a Cockpit Roof

An astonishing video has emerged, featuring a “topless” pilot at the helm of Russia’s latest Su-57 stealth fighter, sans the canopy over his cockpit.

The windscreen of Vladimir Putin’s state-of-the-art warplane is still intact, but the primary part of the protective shield on this formidable 1,320 mph aircraft is conspicuously absent.

This captivating three-second footage was officially released by Russia’s Ministry of Defense.

The plexiglass canopy, covering the upper and lateral sections of the cockpit, plays a crucial role in shielding the pilot from the harsh elements and preventing freezing. Its absence appears to be part of an assessment of emergency procedures in case the aircraft encounters trouble necessitating ejection.

Analysts have suggested that the pilot is donned in a specialized outfit to safeguard against extreme cold conditions.

The ministry has not disclosed specific details about the altitude, speed, or the purpose of this unconventional flight.

In a separate incident, a high-tech Sukhoi Su-57 spiraled from a height of five miles to crash near Komsomolsk-on-Amur in December. The aircraft, also referred to as T-50-8, is engineered to carry the advanced Kinzhal hypersonic nuclear-capable missile, which travels at ten times the speed of sound.

The “topless” flight took off from the Chkalov Flight Test Centre in Akhtubinsk, Astrakhan region.

The Su-57, known as Felon in NATO circles, was also observed carrying a “modernized” version of the Russian R-77-1 medium-range active-homing air-to-air missile, according to experts. This upgraded variant is said to possess the ability to select targets even when faced with enemy jamming, as claimed by the Russians.

Notably, this marks the first instance where the missile, also referred to by the designation Article 180, has been publicly showcased in open-source videos.
