The sight of a poor dog chasing a rescue convoy, desperately begging for help, is truly heartbreaking and urgent. Recently, a series of photos capturing this touching moment has gone viral on social media platforms, causing a stir in countries like Korea, Japan, Thailand, and even Vietnam. People are intrigued by the story behind this heartwarming scene.
Some internet users have shared a story suggesting that the dog was a stray who, upon seeing the passing army, instinctively followed them, as if ready to assist in their mission. However, the truth, as reported by Los Tiempos, is that these photos were taken by photographer Luis Fernando Chumacero in the streets of Tupiza, Bolivia, during the quarantine days amid the ongoing pandemic. The army vehicle captured in the images was on patrol to ensure compliance with the safety regulations.
Contrary to the assumption that the dog was a stray, it was revealed that the fawn-colored dog named Gorda is actually a beloved pet residing in the barracks. “Each regiment adopts dogs, and they live alongside the soldiers, sharing meals and undergoing training just like any soldier would. Gorda serves as the mascot of a particular division,” explained Colonel Luis Pacheco, Director of the Department Army Logistics IV. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, Gorda observed the soldiers patrolling in response to the outbreak and eagerly ran after them. Witnessing Gorda’s determination to accompany them, the soldiers in the vehicle decided to pick him up and let him join them. This heartwarming moment was beautifully captured by the photographer’s lens.
Interestingly, as soon as Gorda got into the car, another gray dog named Multicam rushed over, expressing a desire to join as well. Multicam serves as the mascot of a different division.
The image of these two dogs has become a subject of photo manipulation across various forums. Whether people are aware of the true story or not, they unanimously agree that both dogs are incredibly adorable, providing a much-needed source of joy during these challenging times of the epidemic.
